Strength has become an urge to step forward before considering the whole. Rushing first can create the very error you hoped to avoid.
Hexagram 34
Da Zhuang concerns using growing strength appropriately. Thunder above Heaven gives action great force, but being able to do something does not make it right. Courage needs a sound direction so that force does not trap you in an obstacle you could have handled differently.
Upper trigram: Thunder/Zhèn
Lower trigram: Heaven/Qián
Confidence, resources, or support may be increasing, making a quick breakthrough attractive. Determine whether a limit should be overcome or whether it marks a boundary of ability, relationship, or acceptable conduct.
Use strength for an important, legitimate purpose and hear feedback before applying more of it. If greater effort only tightens the trap, change your approach or release the contest instead of letting pride choose the direction.
Great Power. Perseverance furthers.
Thunder in heaven above: Great Power. The superior person does not tread upon paths that do not accord with established order.
Express yourself with confidence without overriding another person's wishes. In disagreement, regulate volume and impulse; respecting refusal matters more than obtaining immediate agreement.
Take on substantial work, propose a direction, and use your ability. Keep the team able to participate rather than assuming that your capacity to sprint creates the same capacity in everyone else.
Examine both the legitimacy of the aim and the capacity to carry it. If an option survives only through constant confrontation, reconsider the approach rather than adding force blindly.
Momentum supports action when a real path exists. Proceed steadily and investigate resistance, rather than treating every obstacle as a wall you must break through.
The lines unfold from the bottom upward, describing one pattern of change from its first appearance to its extreme. If your reading has a changing line, begin with that position.
Strength has become an urge to step forward before considering the whole. Rushing first can create the very error you hoped to avoid.
Strength held within sound principles and balance need not be driven by excitement. Steady judgment is the favorable condition here.
Force used only to contend can catch like horns in a fence. When deeper confrontation makes retreat harder, change your approach.
The barrier opens and strength has solid support. Advance through the available path rather than continuing to behave as though everything needs ramming.
Letting go of aggressiveness does not remove your ability. Releasing competition can make continued progress easier.
Caught between advancing and retreating, acknowledge the difficulty and seek a way to untangle it. Further force only tightens the bind.
Da Zhuang does not make might right. Its ram caught in a fence shows strength trapping itself. Releasing the need to prevail can be the more mature use of power.
