乾 · Hexagram 1
Qian is about creative strength and the discipline required to sustain it. It does not say to push forward at all costs; it asks whether your power should remain hidden, become visible, be refined, be tested, take the lead, or stop before excess sets in.

The situation you may be in
Qian often appears when you have a clear aim, strong drive, or a leadership responsibility. Initiative is available, but the quality of the outcome depends on matching the stage of the situation rather than overpowering it with will alone.

Identify your position before choosing your level of force. Prepare when preparation is due, lead when the moment calls for it, and stay humble when success arrives; real strength includes the ability to stop.

Timing develops from latency toward maturity and cannot be compressed into one sprint. When resistance appears, ask whether the move is premature or whether you have already gone too far.
The six changing lines
The lines unfold from the bottom upward, describing one pattern of change from its first appearance to its extreme. If your reading has a changing line, begin with that position.
九二：见龙在田，利见大人。
Your strength is becoming visible. Enter the real field of action and connect with people who have experience or influence.
九三：君子终日乾乾，夕惕若，厉，无咎。
The faster progress comes, the more reflection is needed. Work diligently, review carefully, and pressure need not become error.
九四：或跃在渊，无咎。
You are testing the edge of a larger move. Run a measured experiment without blaming hesitation or forcing a final commitment.
九五：飞龙在天，利见大人。
Capacity and position are aligned. Lead openly, while remembering that durable success comes through worthy collaboration rather than solitary credit.
上九：亢龙有悔。
The best point of exertion has passed. Consolidating, delegating, or stepping back matters more than continuing to display strength.
A common misreading
A common mistake is treating Qian as a promise of victory or endless advance. Its top line is an explicit warning that power taken to an extreme creates regret.
