Demanding deep and permanent commitment at the beginning overloads the bond or plan. Establish a sustainable rhythm first.
Hexagram 32
Heng is constancy of direction within change, not the freezing of one form forever. Endurance comes from stable principles, adaptable methods, and commitments you remain willing to honor day after day.
Upper trigram: Thunder/Zhèn
Lower trigram: Wind/Xùn
The matter requires long cultivation and short-lived excitement is no longer enough. You need to distinguish living continuity from mechanical repetition maintained only through fear of change.
Define the core that should not change easily, then preserve flexibility in how it is carried out. Replace emotional sprints with rhythm, and use review to keep persistence from hardening into rigidity.
Connection deepens through continued response and the details of shared life. Commitment should be visible in daily behavior while leaving room for both people to renegotiate as they grow.
This favors building durable capability, process, and reputation. Avoid constant changes of direction, but do not disguise an ineffective routine as stability.
Compare whether each option remains workable on ordinary days, not only at its peak. A choice you can sustain is usually more reliable than one that feels perfect briefly.
This is a period for establishing rhythm rather than chasing a breakthrough. Small, steady, reviewable progress fits the timing best.
The lines unfold from the bottom upward, describing one pattern of change from its first appearance to its extreme. If your reading has a changing line, begin with that position.
Demanding deep and permanent commitment at the beginning overloads the bond or plan. Establish a sustainable rhythm first.
Once you adjust to the right position, earlier imbalance can resolve. Continued self-punishment is unnecessary.
Repeated changes of principle damage trust. Holding the current position cannot fully erase the resulting embarrassment.
Long effort in the wrong field yields no game. Check direction and position before praising persistence.
Constancy must fit role and reality. Fixed compliance is not a universal virtue; whoever carries responsibility must remain able to adapt.
Constant agitation and reaction create activity without accumulation. Recover steadiness before continuing.
Heng does not mean never changing or enduring everything. When an outer form betrays the core value, changing the method or ending the old form may be the truest constancy.
